Police Forces Shut Down NRT Office in Erbil Without Formal Court Order

Police forces in Erbil entered the office of NRT channel and completely shut it down. According to information from Channel8’s correspondent, the officers informed the channel’s staff that "an order has been issued to close the office, and they must immediately stop their work.”

A Nationwide Decision Without Formal Documentation

The police forces who entered the office stated that the closure decision was not limited to Erbil but was "a nationwide order that requires the channel to be shut down across all of Kurdistan by court decision.” However, despite these claims, the security forces did not present any official written document or court ruling to the channel’s staff to clarify the legal basis or details of the decision.

Police Presence and Restriction on Equipment

Currently, NRT’s Erbil office remains closed, with police forces stationed at the site. Channel8’s correspondent reported that the forces are preventing staff from removing journalistic equipment and personal belongings, saying "they are not allowed to take any devices or materials out of the office.”
