August 4th, 2026: Metro Center rejects all forms of violence that were conducted against journalists and protesters in Penjwen and calls for respect for human rights, freedom of expression and freedom of media work.
Payam reporter Wshiar Mohammed and cameraman Miran Dilêr were arrested by security forces in Penjwen district of southern Kurdistan.
"This morning, while covering a demonstration against the (Runaki Project), my cameraman and I were arrested by a security force,” Wshiar Mohammed told Metro Center.
Payam cameraman Miran Dilêr also told Metro: "During our arrest, the security forces attacked and punched me and took away my journalistic equipment. Then when we were taken to the security forces, I was pistol-whipped.”
