Metro attends the anniversary of journalist Sardasht Osman in Bermingham

Today, May 5, a representative of the Metro Center participated in the anniversary of the assassination of journalist Sardasht Osman, organized by the (Shubat 17) Organization for Human Rights.

The ceremony coincided with other events in London, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow.

Chia Asad, representative of Metro Center, delivered a speech on the occasion, in which he talked about the working conditions of journalists and the dangers they face such as drone assassination, assassination attempts, threats, attacks on channels, obstruction, breaking or confiscation of journalistic equipment, Unfair prosecutions, arbitrary arrests, discrimination, assaults, beatings and injuries, cyber-attacks and breaches of promises, and lack of equal opportunities for free coverage have made their environment challenging.

Impunity and escape from justice and depriving the rights of the victims and their families to justice is against all principles of international human rights law. We view the case of journalist Sardasht Osman as such.

What is common in the case of the journalists who were martyred is the closure of their cases and the impunity of the killers and perpetrators of the crimes. Some of the cases have been closed at an early stage of investigation. Some accused, relying on political power, have refused to go to court. Some of the investigations were energetic only to the point that the perpetrators were found, and the planners have always escaped punishment.
