On Saturday, February 14th, 2026, the team of Metro Center received a delegation from the European Union in Kurdistan.

Radu Butum, Head of the EU Liaison Office, and Metro’s team discussed several important issues related to the current situation, including freedom of expression, freedom of the press and the situation in the Kurdistan Region.

The discussion also included Metro Center’s and Alliance Network 19’s annual reports, future developments and expected impacts, with common views on protecting fundamental rights and strengthening an environment that supports independent and responsible media and journalism.

Finally, Diyaree Mohammed, Director of Metro Center, thanked the EU delegation for their support to Metro Center and their attention to their relations with metro and human rights issues and freedom of press and expression.
