On February 14th, 2026 at the Biltomi Hotel in Baghdad, the coordinator of Metro Center participated in an open panel within the framework of the final activities of the project "Telling the Story of Journalism Together"
The event was organized by MiCT (Media Institute through Cooperation and Transformation), funded by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ). It is a year-long collaborative investigative journalism initiative supporting Iraqi women journalists.
The panel discussion was entitled (Social Accountability and Responsibility: The Role of Investigative Journalism in Exposing Issues That Affect All Sections of Iraqi Society.)
Journalist Sirwan Hussein of Kirkuk Naw Agency and Rahman Ghareb, coordinator of Metro Center participated in the meeting, conducted by journalism coach Najla Abu Marri.
Rahman Ghareb expressed his pleasure to hear the women journalists who have worked together for a year to conduct investigative reports and highlighted the most important challenges facing investigative journalists.
The open event was an opportunity for journalists, organizers, editors and civil society organizations to meet and for Metro to present both reports on the situation of press freedom and freedom of expression prepared by Metro Center and Alliance Network 19.
