On April 15-14, 2026, within the framework of the Qarib project, in collaboration with the French organization (CFI), Metro Center organized a two-day training for journalists and media workers in Sulaimani, titled (Journalistic Training on Professional Coverage during War), which was presented by Dr. Saman Fawzi and Mr. Salam Omar.

The first day of the training was supervised by Dr. Saman Fawzi, included several important journalistic topics related to the current situation in the Kurdistan Region and the region, including: As a start, the concept of media freedom and the right of citizens to access information and news in normal and abnormal times were discussed. Then, sensitive issues such as public interest and national security that limit freedom of media work and international standards related to how the media should behave in war situations were part of the discussion.

On the second day, Salam Omar highlighted the practical aspects of journalism during war and how to produce a professional journalistic article, which consisted of several stages, such as information gathering and distribution of ideas, narrative and drafting and finally, impact creation and publication.

Finally, all the topics were applied in practice by the participants and they were awarded certificates of completion.
