On Thursday, September 9th, 2026, the team of Metro Center welcomed a delegation of the Kurdistan Islamic Union media section, Mr. Fahmi Hamatofiq, Head of the Media Center of the Union in Sulaimani-Halabja, Saman Hama Karim Center Administrator, Ibrahim Ismail, Head of Media of Sulaimani Headquarters of KIU.

Metro’s team warmly welcomed them and thanked the Islamic Union Media and its journalists for their support to Metro Center and its goals for the past 17 years for a more open and safer environment for journalists.

The meeting discussed the latest activities of Metro Center, which was the announcement and publication of a legal and ethical guide for journalists, which is about coverage of war issues, hate speech, court news, crime and human rights.

Both sides agreed on the need for journalists to work ethically for sensitive and important issues and to comply with these laws and ethics.

In the meeting, both sides stressed that freedom of the press, the right to access information and coverage of news without manipulation and playing with information will strengthen the trust of citizens in the media and should adhere to these ethics.

They also called for the laws on journalism and access to information to be implemented.
