On 3 November 2026, the Metro Center team welcomed Aydin Maruf, the Kurdistan Region Minister for Minority Affairs, along with his accompanying delegation.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the overall situation and the circumstances facing minority communities, as well as the challenges they encounter, including hate speech on social media and discrimination against them.

Aydin Maruf commended Metro Center's role and its efforts to combat hate speech. A few months ago, Metro Center published a legal and ethical guide for journalists addressing how to cover war, hate speech, court cases and crimes, and human rights cases.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Metro Center team thanked the minister for his visit, wished him success in his work and future activities, and expressed their hope that minority communities would no longer be subjected to hate speech.
