Sulaimani, May 10th, 2025: Network 19 is concerned about the campaign of slander, defamation and unsubstantiated accusations against the personality of a former member of the National Council of the Gorran Movement, it called on current and past activists of the movement to do something to end the campaign.
Late last month, Ahmad Aziz, a former member of the Gorran Movement's national council, appeared on Rudaw's program "With Ranj” titled "The Future of Gorran Between the Hill and Kurdsat”1, in which he expressed some of his views.
Network 19 observed that after the program, a widespread campaign of defamation and "painting a picture of him as a betrayer” of Ahmad Aziz's political past and positions was published on social networks.
While the network does not justify Mr. Ahmad Aziz's opinion, he is respected by us. He has expressed his opinion. We expected him to be seen as a different opinion and responded to within the framework of respect for the other.
The campaign of slander and defamation against the former member of the National Council of the Gorran Movement has worried us, we call on the current and past activists of the movement to do something to end this campaign.
We ask for constructive democratic dialogue instead of slander and accusations.
1 "the hill" is where the first gorran movement headquarters was located and "kurdsat" is where it is located now, which is another neighborhood in sulaimani.
