In February of 2026, citizens organized 35 protests demanding various requests in Kurdistan Regional Government cities.

(18) activities in Sulaymaniyah, (5) activities in Erbil, (2) activities in Halabja, (6) activities in Raperin administration, (3) activities in Garmian administration, (1) activities in Soran administration.
Type of requests:
(8) activities for salaries, (8) activities against the 24-hour electricity prices, (3) activities in support of Rojava, (1) activity for services, (1) activity for tax reductions, (1) activity for rights of private generator owners, (13) activities were for different demands.
The scale and nature of protest activities showed differences between January and February. In January, when 113 activities were recorded, there were larger crowds and more citizens took to the streets, marches and road closures were observed in several areas. At the same time, all activities remained peaceful.
In contrast, in February, with 35 activities recorded, demonstrations were fewer and largely peaceful, consisting mostly of organized rallies, press conferences, and street closures, with moderate participation. Also, in February, one case was reported of preventing a press conference in which protesting teachers were planning to present a request letter on salary delays.
Citizens' demands have also changed. Last month, the highest number of activities were carried out in support of Rojava (98) and that number has dropped to (3) activities this month. Also, in January, there was (1) activity for salaries and this month it increased to ( 8 ) activities, and ( 8 ) activities in protest of the 24-hour electricity prices were recorded in February with no activity for this purpose last month.
