We are not suspicious, but when a journalist disappears or is attacked, the security forces must first of all prove that the journalist is not in their custody. Therefore, we call on the security forces of Ranya to explain the disappearance of Peytakht Media’s reporter.

Unfortunately, I have received some bad news recently. Sherwan Sherwani's strike has reached a stage where we are afraid for his life. Journalist and activist Sabah Atroshi has been detained in Duhok security prison for more than three weeks because he intended to demonstrate over electricity prices. These are painful news and I hope we will know the fate of these cases soon.

Jutyar Rasul, Peytakht Media’s reporter had previously received permission from the agency for a family trip. He has been missing since 11 pm of the day before his agency announced his disappearance and his relatives and colleagues know nothing about his fate.

The Ranya branch of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate has not issued any official statement on the matter. Furthermore, Security forces have not released any information about the case.

How can a citizen disappear for 24 hours without any official authority saying where he is, what he has allegedly done, or whether he is being held in prison, so that, at the very least, his mother knows where he is and on what charges he is being detained?
